Staffing news
Last week, we farewelled Mrs Shelley Donaldson who commenced her maternity leave. I sincerely thank Mrs Donaldson for her many contributions to our school this year and for being an outstanding teacher for K/3D. We wish Mrs Donaldson all the best for the birth of her baby.
Mrs Janet McKnight will now be the full-time class teacher for K/3D. Mrs McKnight has worked extensively in K/3D this year and has spent many hours meeting with Mrs Donaldson to ensure a smooth and seamless transition between teachers for the children of K/3D.
This week, we also welcome Mr Salim Layoun to our school in a full time capacity. Mr Layoun will be supporting our Kindergarten children with their literacy and numeracy learning. He will also be supporting our children who are newly arrived in our country with their English language acquisition.
School photos
Next Wednesday 2 September, our school will be holding our annual school photos. Children are asked to wear their full Summer uniform to school on the day. Please ensure that clothes are clean on this day. Please contact our office on 4229 2096 to arrange an appointment to purchase new uniforms if required.
Students who are unwell
The Department of Education has released new guidelines to inform learning for the remainder of Term 3. These guidelines were shared with our community last week.
In accordance with advice from NSW Health, parents and carers are reminded NOT to send children to school if they are unwell, even if they have the mildest flu-like symptoms. Parents of students who present as unwell or have flu like symptoms will be contacted to have their child return home.
NSW Health have requested that anyone who is unwell or has even mild flu-like symptoms arrange to be tested through their local medical practitioner or one of the COVID-19 clinics.
If a student has been absent due to flu like illness or develops flu like symptoms while at school, they are not to return to school until they have a negative COVID-19 test and are symptom free.
The negative COVID-19 test result must be sighted and received by the school before the students’ return to school. Negative tests can be emailed to our school on wollongwst-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au or texted to our school on 0421 050 606.
Have a great week everyone,
Michelle Barnes
