Student wellbeing
Like all NSW public schools, we provide safe learning and teaching environments to encourage healthy, happy, successful and productive students.
The department is committed to creating quality learning opportunities for children and young people. These opportunities support wellbeing through positive and respectful relationships and fostering a sense of belonging to the school and community.
The Wellbeing Framework for Schools helps schools support the cognitive, physical, social, emotional and spiritual development of students and allows them to connect, succeed and thrive throughout their education.
Our school's Wellbeing Framework
Our school's localised wellbeing framework promotes a positive, therapeutic, and non-punitive approach to student wellbeing. This framework ensures that every child is recognised, valued, and cared for.
The Zones of Regulation is a key component of our wellbeing framework, designed to assist students in recognising and managing their emotions by classifying them into four colour-coded zones, thereby enhancing self-awareness and self-regulation skills.
Our localised wellbeing framework is founded on the Berry Street Education Model, which focuses on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment by addressing students' social, emotional, and academic needs. This model emphasises the importance of building strong relationships, fostering resilience, and promoting positive behaviour to enhance student outcomes.
Embedded within our wellbeing framework are restorative practices, which focus on building and repairing relationships by encouraging open communication, understanding, and collaboration among students. These practices aim to address conflicts and promote accountability while fostering a supportive community.
Positive Behaviour for Learning
At our school, we use Positive Behaviour for Learning – a whole-school approach for creating a positive, safe and supportive school climate where students can learn and develop. Our whole school community works together to establish expected behaviours and teach them to all students.
