Principal's report - Term 3 Week 9

Dear families,

NAPLAN 2022

A few weks ago, our school received our 2022 NAPLAN results, which were our best results ever! Our school showed significant growth on previous years’ data. Our school results were higher than both the state and statistically similar school groups across most areas. Our children are to be congratulated for their hard work in achieving these outstanding results. Our school staff are to be commended for their quality teaching and relentless focus on improving student learning outcomes. Well done WWPS!

Kindergarten 2023

What a joy it has been to finally meet our new WWPS children and their families over recent weeks. Our parent information session, transition to school picnic and first two WOW start sessions have been a lot of fun. We have further transition to school sessions planned for 16 September and 14, 21, 28 October. Kindergarten 2023 families are encouraged to contact our office on 4229 2096 to enrol your child today.

Showcase assemblies

It was such a delight to see our children on stage last week sharing their learning with families. I thank our many parents/carers and other family members who joined us last week to celebrate our children and their great leaps in learning.

Book and Education Week activities

Thank you to our families who joined us for our BBQ and book character parade. There were so many fabulous costumes. I commend our families on their commitment and creativity. Thank you to our P&C for your  organisation of the BBQ.

Southern Stars

Congratulations to our school choir, Miss Bormann and Mrs Greer on your stellar performances at the recent Southern Stars spectacular. What a show it was! Our children are to be commended for the enthusiasm and spirit they brought to their performances.

Wellbeing performance

On Friday 23 September, all children K-6 will attend a performance in our school hall. The performance, titled H Team, will inspire students to take responsibility for their own behaviour and wellbeing. The show will support children to critically evaluate media, stand up to bullying and make good decisions. The cost of this incursion is $8 and can be paid online or at the front office by Tuesday 20 September.

School holidays

Our last day of school will be Friday 23 September. School returns for all children on Monday 10 October. I wish all families a safe, happy and joyful Spring break. Stay safe everyone!

Kind regards,

Michelle Barnes
