School operations from Monday 25 May

Our school will return to full time onsite learning from Monday 25 May. We are very excited by this news and are very much looking forward to our children returning full time next week.

Schools are safe and operations will be in line with Australian Health Protection Principal Committee and NSW Health guidelines.

School attendance

All children are to attend school unless they are unwell. All student absences must be explained via a note or phone call to our office. All learning will be occurring face-to-face in classrooms. Remote learning activities will cease.

School activities

Our regular school curriculum will go ahead, with the exception of some activities. These exceptions are:

-       assemblies, including Monday morning assemblies

-       incursions and excursions

-       inter-school activities

-       in-school activities requiring parent volunteers

-       drinking from a water bubbler. Students must use water bottles.

-       swimming in our pool

-       community hub activities

School cleaning and hygiene supplies

Our school is receiving additional cleaning services. This includes:

-       enhanced cleaning: extra hours for cleaning before and after school each day

-       day cleaning: to clean high touch areas, including playground equipment and toilet areas midway through each day.

Students and staff will wash hands with soap prior to eating and after using the toilet. Hand sanitiser will be used upon entering school grounds, entering and exiting rooms and also as needed, such as after sneezing. All rooms have been given a packet of antibacterial wipes to use for students to wipe down tables or other areas if needed throughout the day. Soap, sanitiser or paper towel dispensers will be checked regularly and refilled when required as a matter of urgency.

Physical distancing

There are no physical distancing requirements for children. All adults must maintain physical distancing from each other (1.5m).

Drop off procedures

Our Phillips Ave and Crown St gates will be opened and supervised by staff from 8:30am. Hand sanitiser will be provided for all students as they enter school grounds.

Pick-up procedures

2:45pm – 2:55pm Children with siblings at our school who are being collected by car will wait in a line at the western gate (near OOSH) on Phillips Ave for collection. Parents/carers will form a line in their cars to collect their children.

2:55 – 3:05pm Children without siblings at our school who are being collected by car will wait in a line at the western gate (near OOSH) on Phillips Ave for collection. Parents/carers will form a line in their cars to collect their child.

3:00pm Children walking home will leave the school via the Phillips Ave or Crown St gates.

3:00pm Children attending OOSH will walk to the Fun Club facilities.

School grounds

Only essential visitors are able to enter school grounds. Essential visitors include health professionals such as speech therapists who work with some of our students and contractors conducting maintenance. Visitors must be able to answer the following questions sufficiently by administration staff before gaining entry to our school – Are you well? Have you travelled overseas recently? Are you a close contact of a diagnosed COVID-19 case? No parents/carers are to enter school grounds without a scheduled appointment, and must have sought the permission of the Principal. Parent/carer meetings with teachers are to be conducted via telephone or Zoom.

Responding to COVID-19 cases

There is a clear plan to respond to a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 case. Parents/carers are to contact the Principal immediately if your child is a suspected or confirmed case.

Our school sincerely thanks our entire community for your support, understanding and flexibility. We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone back at school this coming Monday.

Kind regards,

Michelle Barnes

Principal
