Future-focused learning

Future-focused learning prepares students across all curriculum areas and learning stages with skills and capabilities to thrive in a rapidly changing and interconnected world. It connects students and engages their sense of curiosity.

Future-focused teachers know and understand the needs and talents of their students. They are flexible and select from a range of effective teaching strategies.

Future-focused learning environments inspire students to be leaders of their own learning. Students collaborate and use critical and creative thinking to solve complex problems and become mindful global citizens.

The general capabilities in the Australian Curriculum and learning across the curriculum content in NSW syllabuses cover the knowledge, skills, behaviours and dispositions that will assist students to actively shape their future. Students develop these capabilities when they apply knowledge and skills confidently, effectively and appropriately in complex and changing circumstances, in their learning at school and in their lives outside school.

Bring your own device (BYOD)

Our school implements a bring your own device (BYOD) program for our students in Years 3-6. Students are invited to bring a suitable learning device such as a laptop or tablet to school for learning purposes. Participation in this program is optional. We understand that devices are costly and do not expect all students to bring a device to school. The school will continue to provide devices for student use.

Our BYOD policy and minimum deivce specifications document (PDF 171KB) has been developed according to NSW Department of Education guidelines. If you would like your child to participate in this program, please read the information carefully, complete the attached student agreement and return to our office once your device at home is ready for school use.

Our school also provides enrichment and robotics programs for our students.

All students have the opportunity to participate in enrichment lessons that focus on:

  • extending creativity
  • critical thinking
  • problem solving.

Children across all classes participate in coding and robotic lessons.
