Starting Kindergarten

The first year of school is vital for fostering a positive outlook on learning and developing essential skills that contribute to future success. We focus on facilitating a seamless transition for both the child and their family by taking the time to understand each child's unique background within a warm, nurturing, safe, and caring environment, ensuring that everyone feels valued and supported as they begin this exciting new chapter together.

Our Kindergarten program

Our Kindergarten program is thoughtfully designed to provide a strong foundation for your child's educational journey, focusing on both academic and social-emotional development. Each morning session is dedicated to literacy, followed by a middle session that emphasises numeracy skills. The final learning session encompasses a wide range of subjects, including history, geography, personal development, health, physical education, science, digital technologies, music, art, dance, and drama. Additionally, we enrich our program with excursions that provide real-world learning experiences, ensuring that each child's unique needs are met in a supportive and inclusive environment where they feel valued and confident as they learn and grow together with their peers.

Our Kindergarten teachers

Our Kindergarten teachers are warm, kind, and compassionate individuals who are dedicated to creating a nurturing environment for every child. They are experts in early literacy and numeracy, implementing dynamic teaching and learning programs tailored to meet the individual needs of each student, ensuring differentiated learning that supports every child's unique journey.

Our Kindergarten classrooms

Our Kindergarten classrooms are vibrant and inviting spaces designed to foster curiosity and a love for learning. Each classroom is equipped with a variety of resources and interactive learning areas that encourage exploration, creativity, and collaboration among students. With a focus on hands-on activities and dynamic play-based learning, our classrooms provide a supportive environment where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally as they begin this important stage of their education.

WoW Start program

We are excited to offer Transition to School sessions, where your child will have the chance to learn and play alongside their future classmates and Kindergarten teachers in a welcoming classroom environment. While the children engage in fun and educational activities, parents are invited to attend informative sessions with the Principal and Kindergarten Assistant Principal. During these sessions, parents will also hear from representatives of our before and after school care service, as well as our school canteen, providing valuable insights into our school programs, what to expect when starting school, and how to support your child's transition. This ensures you feel informed and empowered as you embark on this new journey together.

Support for all children

We are dedicated to providing thorough support for all students, including those with additional needs, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance from the very start. Before your child begins Kindergarten and throughout the transition process, we arrange meetings with parents and external therapists to develop customised strategies. We also liaise with preschool teachers and our school psychologist to ensure ongoing support and a smooth transition. We encourage parents to reach out to the school as soon as possible to discuss these supports, so they can be in place from the moment your child starts Kindergarten.
