Before school, after school and school holiday care – Fun Club @ West Wollongong

Fun Club @ West Wollongong operates through Big Fat Smile, a not-for-profit community-owned provider of child education, care, recreation, cultural and inclusion services. Fun Club offers before school, after school and school holiday care for students aged 5 to 12 years.

  • Before school  – 6:30-9am
  • After school – 3-6pm
  • School holidays – 6:30am-6pm

Before and after school sport program

Run by our teachers, this program is designed for students who have an interest in sport and wish to develop their skills using games and drills. It also encourages students who do not participate in sport to become involved. 

Choir

Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to perform in our school choir. Performances include:

  • Choral Festival
  • other special events
  • school events.

Dance troupe

Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to perform in our junior and senior dance troupes. Performances include:

  • Southern Stars
  • South Coast Public Schools Dance Festival
  • other school events.

Hiring our facilities

You may apply to use our school’s facilities for appropriate purposes provided your hiring the facility does not interfere with our teaching and learning programs.

Homework club

The homework club is a tutoring service provided by student volunteers from Edmund Rice College each Thursday afternoon.

NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee 

Students from Years 3 to 6 have the opportunity to participate in the school spelling bee. Winners then progress to inter-school competitions.

Public speaking competition

Students in Kindergarten to Year 6 participate in the annual school public speaking competition. As part of this competition, students are expected to write and present a speech on a prescribed topic, to their year group. House competitions (Years 3-6 only) and a whole school final also occur.

School religious education (SRE) and school ethics education (SEE)

Our school offers SRE and SEE every Tuesday

  • Years 3 to 6 – 11:40am-12:10pm
  • Kindergarten to Year 2 – 12:10-12:40pm

Student representative council (SRC)

Each year, students from Years 2 to 6 are elected to represent their class as part of the SRC.

Students are involved in a variety of activities that will encourage them to: 

  • Lead their peers in respectful, responsible and safe behaviour.
  • Provide the student body with a voice in decision-making processes.
  • Foster responsibility for the wider community’s needs, including fundraising for disadvantaged groups and raising awareness about important health and social issues.
  • Increase their awareness and responsibility for our school’s needs.

Swimming pool

Our school has an onsite indodor heated swimming pool. Every student at our school receives a weekly, half hour lesson with a qualified instructor in Term 1 and Term 4. These lessons are at no cost to families.
