Good morning families of Wollongong West Public School,
It is hard to believe that this will be our final update for 2020. What a memorable year we have experienced!
Presentation assembly
I extend a huge congratulations to our recipients who received awards at last week’s presentation assemblies. I especially acknowledge the recipients of our major awards:

Our school captains will be officially inducted in the new year.
Playground update
It has been a very exciting few weeks at our school as work has now commenced on our new outdoor nature play area. It is expected that work will be completed in the coming two weeks and our children will be able to enjoy this new area in 2021. Thank you P&C for coordinating this work.
Athletics Carnival
Yesterday our school held a fun day of outdoor sporting activities at our annual athletics carnival. Thank you to our children who participated in the many activities with enthusiasm and great sportsmanship and thank you Mrs Hickey for organising a wonderful day.
Farewell Year 6
This evening, our school farewelled our Year 6 students. Our evening will commence at 5pm with a graduation assembly in our assembly area. A night of dining and dancing will follow in our school hall. I thank our Year 6 children and their families for their valuable contributions to our school over the years. I wish all of our Year 6 children a very successful transition to high school in the new year.
Important dates
The last day of school for children in 2020 is Wednesday 16 December 2020. In the new year, children in Years 1-6 will return to school on Friday 29 January 2021. Our Kindergarten children will commence school on Tuesday 2 February 2021.
I sincerely thank our entire Wollongong West community of staff, students and family members for your support throughout 2020. I wish all families a very merry Christmas and a safe, healthy and happy holiday break.
