Long service leave
Mrs Barnes is on leave until the end of this term. It is my pleasure to be relieving for Mrs Barnes while she is away.
Refugee Week
This coming weeks is Refugee Week. This is a time to raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees and celebrate the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society. Originally celebrated in 1986, Refugee Week coincides with World Refugee Day (20 June). We will be celebrating Refugee Week with an assembly on Tuesday morning in the hall at 9am. Everyone is welcome.
NRMA Roadshow
On Friday, the NRMA Roadshow visited our school. The Roadshow presented a one hour presentation to each Stage throughout the day. The NRMA Science and Road Safety program is delivered free of charge to school. It focused on increasing the students' knowledge and skills to drive changes in their attitudes and behaviours toward road safety.
Garden team
Miss Horner has started working with a group of children each Friday afternoon in the garden. This group includes 2 students from each class (excluding kindergarten). They are doing a small research project, based on a problem area of the school. The group are working collaboratively to help improve our environment. The 'green' mufti day we held was a great success and many plants and seedling were donated for our garden.
Choir rehearsal
This Wednesday our choir will be attending a cluster rehearsal at Pleasant Height PS. Thank you very much to our wonderful choir teachers, Mrs Bennis and Mrs Morrissey, who will accompany them on this day.
